MY PAINTINGS

Today I want to show you the paintings I’ve painted myself with oil paint. Nature always inspire me to paint or draw. At the moment I haven’t got the time to paint so I draw and droodle when I can.

Unfortunately the photo’s are not of a good quality, but it gives you an idea.

THE END OF JUNE

As June is almost at the end and Summer started, not that we have noticed, the days are getting shorter again, slowly but surely. Normally June is THE most enjoyable month with long warm days and evenings that are warm enough to sit outside , having a glas of wine or another drink, enjoying the garden and the smell of the roses…not this year though except for yesterday when we stayed on the terrace till 11 pm. Today is too cold and tomorrow they expect a real hot day that will end with thunderstorms…oh well I enjoy the moments when I can sit in my garden or when I can do some gardening.

Today I was able to do some work in the garden, this year we have a bit of an ant problem, they seem to be everywhere, in the greenhouse, in my pots, in the ground, some crawled in my t-shirt and bit me ! Does anyone of you know how to get rid of them in a friendly way ?

I made a few pic’s today and yesterday.I hope you’ll like them.

I LOVE THE COMBINATION YELLOW AND BLUE, THE FLOWERS OF THE BORAGE ARE SO BEAUTIFULL

THE SUN IS ALWAYS SHINING WITH THESE YELLOW BLOOMS

LOOK AT THEIR LITTLE FACES, DON’T THEY LOOK CUTE ! I LOVE THOSE LITTLE PANSY’S

HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE THEM ?

It’s time for me to go to bed now so goodnight or goodmorning to all of you and enjoy your garden when you can !

ABOUT DAHLIA’S

Because of the rainy weather we have been having lately I haven’t been able to take some pics in my garden so I’m going to tell you about a vist to a dahlia showgarden we went too last year.

I like dahlia’s a lot, some people find them old fashioned but I think you can make some really nice bouquet’s with them or even use them in ikebana pieces. You have tiny one’s, big one’s, blousy one’s, you have soft pastel colours, all sorts of forms, short bushes, high bushes, you name it. Oh yes, and they do fine in a pot as well.

Normally they can’t stand frost, at least that is what the package says when you buy dahlia bulbs but they are pretty though you know. I don’t remove them for Winter and usually it goes well and they appear every year in Spring but this Winter was so extreme (-18 C° for several days) that I lost some of them but not all so for next Winter I intend to give them some cover. We used to be a zone 8 country but the past few winters made us a zone 7 !!!

So here we go !

When you see all these beauties how can you not love them hey ???!!!

Todays weatherforcast is 19 C° and dry.

HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL AND ENJOY YOUR GARDEN !

WATER ANYONE ???

I know some of you are desperate for some rain and I do understand, I really do as without water there is no life possible. But here in Belgium we have lack of sun and warmth, a few days ago we got 30 liters of water per m²in a few hours time, that is more than the average for the whole month of June !

IT’S RAINING MEN HALLELUJA !!!

Everthing looks lush and green ofcourse but the flowers are not happy, they look scruffy and battered, it’s not a pretty sight. My rosa Guirlande d’amour looks smashing for weeks on end when the sun is shining  and when the weather is dry, now it looks really sad.

SEE WHAT I MEAN ?

STAINED BY THE RAIN

THIS CLEMATIS JUST STARTED TO BLOOM

On the shady side of the house I use a lot of busy lizzy’s, I find it a very rewarding flower for shady places. Last year we were in Costa Rica and there we saw the buzzy lizzy everywhere in the shade as groundcover, such a pretty sight ! I am always amazed when I see the flowers we can buy here,  in their natural habitat especially the plants we keep here in small pots, when you see them in an exotic country they are sometimes huge tree’s or big shrubs and then I feel sorry for my potplants as they will be forever potplants.

I whish I coud say I had a gardening weekend ahead of me but I can’t, I have other obligations much to my regret. But I do hope you will be able to work in your garden or to enjoy and relax between the flowers or under a three.

AND TO END WITH A HAPPIER PICTURE, HERE IS ANOTHER DAYLILLY THAT JUST STARTED TO BLOOM, THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN BEFOR THE RAIN STARTED

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND ALL !!!
