We had snow and artic temperatures this week, even during the day ! Although we get signs Spring is getting closer. Normally my Amelanchier is in bloom the 1st of April but not this year, the buds are becomming bigger but they have to become a lot bigger before it’ll start blooming, first you get the flowers and together you can see tiny leafs unfolding and by the time the flowers fade (after about 10 days) the leafs are all there. Whilst in bloom it is covered with buzzing bee’s and bumblebee’s having a ball ! Soon after the flowers the tiney fruits are there, at first green, later red and then the birds are having a ball feasting on the ripe berries.
HERE YOU CAN SEE THE BUDS, THEY ARE BIGGER THAN IN WINTER BUT THEY HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO BEFORE THEY’LL BE BIG ENOUGH TO BLOOM
We’ve been very lucky here down South and the viburnam are busitng out in bloom as our temperatures rise. Glad your starting to be able to get busy too.
In a few days time everything has come to life again, it is amazing, if this kind of weather keeps up we’ll have blooms soon.
Oh. The birds get them. that’s what happens to our cherries.
