We had snow and artic temperatures this week, even during the day ! Although we get signs Spring is getting closer. Normally my Amelanchier is in bloom the 1st of April but not this year, the buds are becomming bigger but they have to become a lot bigger before it’ll start blooming, first you get the flowers and together you can see tiny leafs unfolding and by the time the flowers fade (after about 10 days) the leafs are all there. Whilst in bloom it is covered with buzzing bee’s and bumblebee’s having a ball ! Soon after the flowers the tiney fruits are there, at first green, later red and then the birds are having a ball feasting on the ripe berries.
HERE YOU CAN SEE THE BUDS, THEY ARE BIGGER THAN IN WINTER BUT THEY HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO BEFORE THEY’LL BE BIG ENOUGH TO BLOOM
As there is nothing I can do outside I started to repot my cacti and succulents in the house, the sun is shining and the light is bright so my cacti and succulents love it after a long grey and dark Winter, and some show signs of growth.
Have a great day and enjoy your garden if you can ! Thanks for stopping by !
I recently read an article about how you can find out if your seeds are still viable. You take a glas, put some water in it and the seeds you want to sow, the seeds that lay on top of the water are dead, those who sink to the bottom are still alive. I did the test and here is the picture :
IT IS NOT A CLEAR PICTURE BUT YOU CAN SEE SEEDS FLOATING ON THE WATER AND OTHERS AT THE BOTTOM
I thought this was worth sharing with you, perhaps many of you already knew this but I’m sure some of you didn’t.
After a week of lovely Spring weather were are back in Winter with snow predicted for the next days and minus temperatures even during the day !!
Have a great Sunday all !
This is the first sunny day we’ve had this year, it’s 9 C° but it is cold cos of an easterly wind but behind the windows it is warm, this feels soooooo good !!! It is only for a couple of days but I intend to enjoy every minute of it ! I want to start sowing in the greenhouse, of course only things that can stand a bit of frost cos my greenhouse has no heating (yet), for the first time this ear the automatic window openers opened the windows ! At the moment all my pots with succulents are in there to protect them from the rain and they have done well this Winter, they are looking good.
I took a few pictures of my indoor plants who are sunbathing and enjoying it !
I THINK THEY ARE ALL SMILING AT THE MOMENT !
IF YOU LISTEN CAREFULLY YOU CAN HEAR THEM SCREAM OF JOY !
Have a great Spring !
I have this plant for many years now but I don’t know what it is, it is a succulent but I have no id, I have been looking on the internet for a long time but I never found one that looks the same.
HERE HE IS, IT IS A BIG BOY, THE BIGGEST LEAFS ARE ABOUT 30 CENTIMETERS LONG (ABOUT 1 FOOT)
HERE IS ANOTHER VIEW, THE LEAFS ARE SOFT AND SMOOTH AND THE PLANT GROWS VERY SLOWLY
IT RECENTLY HAD A VERY LONG FLOWERSTALK WITH PINK AND GREEN FLOWERS
I would be very happy if someone could give me a name for it !
Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by !
