Yesterday was a sunny Sunday, the first this year ! It was still cold but in my greenhouse it was warm. I did a lot of sowing, planting, repotting, potting and watering as everything is very dry. Today I had a free day so I thought I could continue working in the greenhouse….but early this morning my son rang to tell me the childminder was ill and asked if I could take care of the kids so ….no gardening today !!! And there is so much to do !!!!
The first seeds I have sown this year were spinach, it took over 3 weeks to germinate !!! but it is looking good now. Yesterday I did the carrots ( little orange ball’s called Paris Market),and lettuce for cutting, I planted eucomis bicolor in pots, liatris spicata in pots, 3 dahlia Yellow Star and 3 dahlia Lucky number, all in pots untill after the frosts about mid May, then I’ll plant most of them outside in the garden, but some will get a big pot. At the moment they can grow away and take a head start in the greenhouse cos it’s warmer there. The temperatures are on the up and rain is on it’s way, it is welcomed as the soil is so dry cos of the dry cold winds we had for weeks on end. So finally it looks as if Spring is on the way !FINALLY !!!!
Here are a few pictures for you :
THE CARROTS AND THE LETTUCE
ON THE LEFT IS LIATRIS SPICATA, ON THE RIGHT IS EUCOMIS BICOLOR
THE PINK AND YELLOW DAHLIA, THE PINK ONE IS A BIT BRIGHTER THAN ON THE PICTURE
Thank you for sharing, I hope you’re enjoying a lovely weekend!
Fun indeed 🙂
And creative.
And beautiful.
thanks !
I wish I had a greenhouse! I really need to start some seeds, too. I’m longing to see some new growth.
My greenhouse has no heating system (yet ?) but I am pleased with it. It is mid April now and that is late for seeding so I intend to buy some small plants like tomato’s, paprika’s and that sort of thing otherwise we won’t have tomato’s this year I think.
The dahlias will grow fast once they get started. Protect them from snails, slugs, etc.
I sowed some seeds in the greenhouse (lettuce, spinach, cabbage, chard, kale, broccoli) The weather outside has not been inspiring.
Next weekend they promis us sun and temperatures between 20 and 25 C° !!!and finally the wind direction wil change from NE to S !!! At the moment we are getting much needed rain so I am pretty pleased and looking forward to next weekend !
your garden will be spectacular again this year! we can wait to see it grow and grow and grow! happy spring dearest gwen 🙂
thanks ! but first I have a lot of work to do as the builders whomad new gardenpaths and a terrace ruined a big part of my garden !
oh no gwennie… is it fixable? or did they carve right through all the choice land bits that you had?
im sure with your skills and design eye you’ll be able to reclaim whats left and make it was wondrous as before, if not better. sorry about the hard work part. but we know you can do it!
