YESSSS!
Last Summer we went on holiday in the South of France and I found many ripe opuntia fruits on the ground so I took one fruit home with me, cleaned and dried the seeds, about a month ago I covered the seeds with a bit of soil and today the first 2 seedling were visible !! If all goes well many more will follow.
VOILA MY FIRST 2 BABIES HAVE ARRIVED !
Two years ago I found a few seeds of an opuntia when on holiday in Tunisia, when I wanted to put them in the soil I had just one seed left (my cleaning lady mistook them for dirt and the rest of the seeds ended up in the vacuum cleaner) but it germinated and is now about two years old and 10 centimeters high and it doesn’t look like an opuntia yet, do any of you know how long it takes before the seedlings will look like a real opuntia ?
MY TUNISIAN OPUNTIA, it is about 10 cm high after 2 years
Have a great weekend all and enjoy your garden if you can !
update : now we are 1 day later and number tree came up đ
SPRING 2014
We are having some really nice Spring weather over here and today I took some pictures in my garden for you to see.

MY AMELANCHIER HAS A ZILLION BUDS WHO ARE ABOUT TO OPEN
THIS SMALL NARCISSUS “TETE-A-TETE” IS A GEM IN THE GARDEN, IT RETURNS EVERY YEAR AND SELFSEEDS ALL OVER THE GARDEN
PROMISING BUDS ON THE RHODODENDRON, I PLANTED THIS ONE LAST YEAR, I CAN HARDLY WAIT TILL THE BUDS WILL OPEN, THE COLOUR OF THE FLOWERS SHOULD BE FUCHSIA PINK
THE AUCUBA JAPONICA SHRUBS HAVE BRIGHT RED BERRIES AT THE MOMENT, IT IS SUCH AN EASY SHRUB, EVERGREEN AND THE YELLOW SPECKS MAKE THEM LOOK LIKE THE SUN IS SHINING ALL THE TIME, CAN ALSO BE USED AS A POTPLANT, IT WILL STAY A LOT SMALLER THEN, NEEDS SHADE
There is sooooo much work in the garden and in the greenhouse at the moment, I just don’t know what to do first as it is all urgent cos of the nice weather everything is growing very fast, especially the weeds. Tomorrow we’ll get one last day of sunshine and then we’ll get rain, I welcome the rain as it is dry at the moment but I hope the sun will be back soon ! It is so nice to be able to eat on the terras again and to soak up a bit of sun and enjoy the garden as it is comming to life again.
Enjoy your garden !
WORDLESS WEDNESDAY
R.I.P.
It is with great sorrow that I have to tell you that my little garden helper died this week of a heart attack, she was 14 years old and not so well for quite a bit but she leaves a big gap in my heart, in my house and in my garden, she was a good dog ! I hope she is very happy where she is now !
