VIEWS FROM MY WORLD

We had a few cooler days and rain, lots of soft rain and nature is very grateful for it and so am I as my plants are recovering from the heat wave now. I have taken a few pictures to show you what is going on in my garden at the moment.

STIL IN BLOOM

The pink pelargonium I bought last year in Spring is still in bloom ! For some people this is normal but not for me as they can’t stand frost. But this Winter was so soft that my pelargonium on a windowsill outside has been blooming ever since I bought it, in all the years I have been gardening this has never happened, the past 5 or 6 Winters were horrible with extremely low temperatures and lots of snow.  It is now the beginning of March and the garden is full of live, I love it !

I hope you are all enjoying your gardens as well ! Thanks for stopping by !

STILL IN BLOOM

There is not much happening in the garden at the moment, we have had an awful lot of heavy rain and storm winds lately so everything is flattened and the garden looks horrible and sad, but for some reason I have a sunflower in bloom and it is still standing up as if nothing happened, it is a gift from the birds as I never planted it.

YOU CAN SEE IT IS WET WET WET

And on the windowsill my pelargoniums are still in full bloom and making new buds, they are a bit protected from the rain ofcourse but it is already the second week of November !, not that I am complaining !

20130911bloemen 091

I DID TRY TO CUT ONE FLOWERSTALK TO USE IN A SMALL VASE BUT THEY DON’T LAST LONG AS CUT FLOWER SO I AM NOT GOING TO DO THAT ANYMORE, OUTSIDE THEY BLOOM FOR A LONG TIME

20130911bloemen 092

YOU CAN SEE THE NEW BUDS HERE, I DO NOT HAVE THE HEART TO CUT THE FLOWERS OFF AND MAKE THE PLANT SMALLER FOR OVERWINTERING

We are still having “warm” weather, about 12 to 16 C° and there are still a lot of leaves on the trees that’s why a lot of tree’s got blown down lately during the heavy stormwinds. The forcast for the next 2 weeks are more of the same, too warm for the time of the year, a lot of rain and wind and no frost in sight, I don’t mind cos it gives me more time to put my pots in for overwintering, I like to leave them outside for as long as I can.

Have a great day all and thanks for stopping by, it is much appreciated ! Take care of your gardens and of yourselves ofcourse and enjoy yourselves as much as you can !

LA DOUCE FRANCE: DIJON 3

Today I want to show you the garden of the B&B we stayed at when we were in Dijon. The guy who runs this place was really friendly and his English was good, I prefer to speak French in France as I speak it well enough to make myself clear, when I was 18 I lived and worked in France for 6 month’s so I have no problem with French. This B&B was really a gem, an old big house with 3 guest rooms and 1 guest suite. Every place was really nicely decorated and so was the garden.

I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

VIEWS OF MY WORLD

Today was a quiet Sunday, grey but dry, very windy but not too cold. I always walk through my garden several times a day, for my enjoyment but also to see if everything is ok, to see if all my plants have enough water and to see if they are all doing fine. After many years of experience I can now see when a plant is not feeling well so I can do something about it, give it another place, more sun, less sun, or some fertilizer….usually the plant will be ok afterwards but I do have the occasional death and then I feel awful.

Here are a few pictures for you of how things look at the moment.
