BARCELONA ; CACTI AND SUCCULENTS

When on holiday I am always on the look out for cactus gardens and as there are many of them in Spain I just knew there would be one in Barcelona too and yes, there was one and I found it on the Barcelona map so we went over there for a visit, it was awesome !

The following flora pictures I took all over Barcelona.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN MY GARDEN AT THE MOMENT

Winter was long, freezing and wet. We didn’t get Spring, we went from Winter into Summer so plants are way behind their normal blooming time. Normally June is the most beautiful time in my garden with lots of blooms but today my garden still looks pretty green.

I walked through my garden this morning and made some pictures for you.

BLOOMS OF CLIMBING HYDRANGEA OR SHOULD I SAY THE BEGINNING OF THE BLOOMS ?

ONE OF MY FUCHSIA’S, AREN’T THEY CUTE WITH THEIR BALLERINA FROCKS ?!!!

DIGITALIS, THE FIRST FLOWERSTALK IN MY GARDEN WHO IS BLOOMING, THEY HAVE SELFSEEDED ALL OVER THE GARDEN BUT I  LET THEM BE AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT IN THE WAY, THE BEE’S LOVE THEM AND THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL !!!

NEW HOUSE GUESTS

I have found a few new house guests, for some of them I have been looking for a long time, so I am quite pleased with myself  !I prefer my house guests to be small to start with and to stay small if possible so I can have many different ones.

AGAVE STRICTA, ISN’T HE CUTE !!! BUT HE IS PRICKLY !!!

SANSEVIERA FERNWOOD MIKADO, QUITE A MOUTHFULL HEY ! AND SHE HAS PUPS!

THIS ONE IS A FICUS ELASTICA ABIDJAN ACCORDING TO THE LABEL BUT I AM NOT SURE ABOUT IT. IT LOOKS LIKE AN ORDINARY FICUS ELASTICA BUT IT IS SMALLER IN EVERY WAY.

HAWORTHIA ATTENUATA AND IT HAS A PUP !

HAWORTHIA LYMIFOLIA TWIST, IT HAD A PUP GROWING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE POT

THIS ONE IS A MELOCACTUS MATANZANUS, THE RED HAT NEEDS AT LEAST 5 YEARS TO GROW

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST AN AUSTRO CYLINDROPUNTIA

Don’t you just love them ???!! I do !!!

FUCHSIA’S AND MORE

A while ago I ordered some fuchsia’s from a place called Fuchsia’s Katrien Michiels, they have over 3000 different fuchsia’s and over a 1000 different pelargoniums on top of that they have other Summerflowering flowers and a small range of cacti. I love to go there ! They have a beautiful site on internet with all the pictures of the fuchsia’s and pelargoniums they sell. Yesterday I went to collect what I had ordered and I took some pictures.

And last but not least the cacti !!!

As you can see, they were all big cacti and they were a bit neglected so I guess she’s not a cacti fan but the cacti were beautiful none the less !

AN ORDINARY SANSEVIERIA

This morning I was inspecting some of my indoor plants and I found this :

A plant in need of urgent repotting, so I took everything that I needed for the job and I started by removing the plastic pot by cutting it so I wouldn’t damage the roots.

I use old fashion coffee filter paper to lay at the bottom of the pot so the water can drain trough the holes but not the soil, on top of the filter paper I put a layer of crocks :

I use a new soft painting brush to dust  the plant  off, I have smaller ones for the smaller plants.

Here it is in its new larger pot, it has a small pup on the right and on the left is a bigger pup  from last year.

And voilà, a happy plant, or so I hope, bathing in the sun, so now it can grow and produce more pups !
