We finally have Summer weather so lots of plants are flowering, this is the best time of the year for me, June and July, everything in the garden looks good and there are a lot of flowers about. We have our meals in the garden morning noon and evening !
CLEMATIS ETOILLE VIOLETTE
ALCHEMILLA MOLLIS OR LADIES MANTLE, IN THE BLUE POT GROWS A YELLOW DAHLIA, NOT IN BLOOM YET AS WE HAD COLD AND WET WEATHER FOR A LONG TIME AFTER WINTER
A WHITE FLOWERING HOSTA AND IN FRONT OF THE HOSTA IS A WHITE TRAILING BEGONIA, THE BEGONIA HAS BUDS BUT YOU CAN’T SEE THEM YET UNLESS YOU LOOK UNDER THE LEAFS, THE SUMMERBULBS ARE ALL LATE COS OF THE COLD WEATHER WE HAD IN SPRING
THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN A FEW DAYS LATER AND YOU CAN SEE THE FLOWERS OF THE HOSTA NOW, FRESH AND BEAUTIFUL LIKE A VIRGIN !
MORE SEDUMS, THE YELLOW ONE IS SEDUM ACRE
GOATSBEARD IN BLOOM
AND THE FUCHSIA’ ARE STARTING TO BLOOM, THIS ONE IS FUCHSIA MAGELLANICA MAGELLANICA
THANKS FOR VISITING AND I HOPE YOU’LL ALL HAVE A GREAT WEEK !!
The sedums are going to bloom again, some already are, here are the first pictures I took of some of my sedums.
THESE LITTLE GOLDEN STARS (sedum acre)SELFSEED ALL OVER THE GARDEN AND I LET THEM AS THEY ARE SO CUTE AND EASILY REMOVED WHERE THEY ARE NOT WANTED
I hope you all have a sunny Sunday and lots of fun in your garden !
August was a lovely month, lots of sunshine and a good shower or a rainy night once in a while, what more can a gardener want ? Alas August is gone now and September came, the good weather continues, although the days are becoming shorter rapidly, the nights are a lot cooler and breakfast on the terrace is too cold now but the days are just lovely.
I took some pictures last week so you can see what went on in my garden last week.
THE FIRST SEDUMS ARE IN BLOOM, THAT MEANS AUTUMN !!!!THE YELLOW AFRICANS (TAGETES) BLOOM AS IF THERE IS NO TOMORROW
ANEMONE JAPONICA, ANOTHER AUTUMN BLOOMER
MORE ANEMONES IN FRONT OF THE AUCUBA JAPONICA
THE SUN IS ALWAYS SHINING IN MY GARDEN, YOU CAN SEE ALL THE SPIDERWEBS AND SOME DEAD LEAVES…….
CHELONE OBLIQUA ALSO CALLED TURTLE FLOWER COS THE BLOOMS REMIND YOU OF THE TURTLES HEAD, AN EASY CAREFREE PLANT
ALBIZIA JULIBRISSIN STILL IN BLOOM, I LOVE IT AS IT REMINDS ME OF SPAIN
MY WHITE PASSIONFLOWER IS GROWING LIKE MAD, I ONLY PLANTED IT ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO, NO FLOWERS OR BUDS THIS YEAR, HOPE TO GET SOME NEXT YEAR !
THE FIRST OF MY TRICYRTIS IN BLOOM (ALSO CALLED POOR MANS ORCHID)
MY FIGS ARE RIPE ! I STARTED PROTECTING THE ONES WHO ARE ALMOST RIPE AS THE BLACKBIRDS LOVE THEM TOO !
I HAVE A WHITE LANTANA CAMARA ON A STEM AND IT HAD SOME SIDE SHOOTS ON THE STEM SO I REMOVED THEM AND MADE A FEW CUTTINGS, THEY ALL GREW INTO NICE PLANTS AND THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN FLOWERING FOR MANY WEEKS
ONE OF MY FUCHSIAS, THEY WILL GO ON BLOOMING TILL THE FIRST FROSTS, I THINK FUCHSIAS ARE JUST LOVELY AND WORTH ALL THE EXTRA WORK AS THEY HAVE TO OVERWINTER IN THE HOUSE ON A COOL DRY PLACE
I hope you’ll all have a great week ! Thanks for stopping by!
And here we are at the end of August and you can feel the warmth of the sun is not as it was in July and the days have become quite a bit shorter but the days are beautiful, in a weeks time the children go back to school. We know it is possible to get the first frost in September but it is also possible we get the first frost in November or December. Summer was short but nice, and September can be quite good. We still have our holiday in France to look forward too ! We are going to visit a lot of gardens, I’ll tell you all about it when I’m back, ok ?
Meanwhile in my garden all is well and I made some changes here and there and I am happy with it.
I PLACED A FEW MIRRORS IN THE NEW GARDEN, I AM PLANNING TO GIVE THEM A LIFE FRAME OF SMALL LEAVED IVY
HERE IS THE OTHER MIRROR AND I HAVE ROOM FOR MORE……
THESE BUTTERFLIES ARE CRAZY ABOUT THE BLOOMING SEDUMS AND I HAVE A LOT OF THEM IN THE GARDEN AT THE MOMENT
THIS IS ANOTHER SEDUM BUT I DON’T KNOW ITS NAME, IT WAS A GIFT FROM MY NEIGHBOUR
I FINALLY MANAGED TO TAKE A PICTURE OF ONE OF THE MANY FROGS THAT ARE LIVING IN THE GARDEN, THEY DON’T MAKE A LOT OF NOISE, ONLY A SOFT PRRR PRRR AND THEY LOVE OUR POND
THE WHITE LANTANA CAMARA IS ALSO POPULAR AMONGST THE BEES AND BUTTERFLIES
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLANTS : VERBENA BONARIENSIS, BLOOMS FOR A VERY LONG TIME AND GETS A LOT OF VISITORS
DAHLIA AND WHITE ECHINACHEA
MY RESCUED AEONIUM IS THRIVING, IT DIDN’T LOOK GOOD WHEN I BOUGHT IT, I FELT SORRY FOR IT, IT WAS IN A TINY POT AND IT WAS ONLY 2 EURO’S (3 DOLLARS) FOR A BIG PLANT, IT COULDN’T EVEN STAND UP AS THE PLANT WAS FAR TOO HEAVY FOR THE small POT
FUCHSIA MAGELANICA , ONE OF THE EASIEST SHRUBS I KNOW AND VERY WINTERHARDY
FUCHSIA GARTENMEISTER BONDSTEDT
CLOSE UP OF THE GARTENMEISTER BONDSTEDT, THESE TYPE OF FUCHSIA’ WITH THE LONG NARROW FLOWERS NEED MORE WARMTH THAN THE OTHER FUCHSIA’S AND THEY LOVE A PLACE IN FULL SUN
ANOTHER VIEW IN THE MIRROR
LACE CAP HYDRANGEA AT THE POND
HYDRANGYA AND THE FAST GROWING RUSSIAN VINE (polygonum aubertii)
