GARDEN PICTURES

I managed to take a few pictures in my garden, with only 1 hand it was not easy  :D. I do what I can but I miss my other hand !!! Everything looks so fresh and green at the moment and it grows and grows, we have sun regularly, it is not warm but we get rain almost every day, sometimes just a bit, sometimes a lot but most of my plants thrive in these conditions. In the second half of May we can put the more tender plant outside and only then I’m happy as these plants hate to stay indoors for such a long time, usually 6 month’s or longer !!!!!!

I DID NOT PUT ONE SINGLE SEED IN THIS POT AND LOOK WHAT HAPPENED !!!!I LOVE IT WHEN THIS HAPPENS !

A MINI IVY, IT WILL TAKE TIME TO COVER THIS WOODEN FENCE BUT ONCE IT IS COVERED YOU DON’T HAVE MUCH PRUNING TO DO LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE A LARGE IVY

AJUGA STARTING TO BLOOM, ONCE THEY ARE IN FULL BLOOM THEY ARE SO PRETTY WITH DARK BLUE FLOWER SPIKES, THEY ARE GOOD GROUNDCOVER FOR SHADY AND DAMP SOIL AND THE BEE’S LOVE THEM !

THIS IS SOME SORT OF PRUNUS WE USE AS A HEDGE IN THE BACK OF THE GARDEN, IT GROWS TO 6 METER HIGH AND SOMETIMES EVEN HIGHER, IT IS WINTERGREEN, IT GIVES OUR GARDEN SOME PROTECTION FROM STORM WINDS, THE BIRDS LOVE THIS HEDGE AS MANY OF THEM USE IT FOR NESTING AND FOR PROTECTION AGAINST THE RAIN

GARDEN PICTURES

I took a few pictures in my garden last week. My flowers think it is Spring but it isn’t, not really. I think Springbulbs are very brave ! The weather is still cold, stormy and wet wet wet, so it isn’t fun to work in the garden and there is so much work to be done !

But I have flowers in my garden !

YOU CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON NARCISSUS TETE-A-TETE, THEY ARE ONE OF THE EASIESTS NARCISSES I KNOW AND THEY FLOWER FOR A LONG TIME

I DON’T KNOW HE NAME OF THIS ONE BUT I’VE HAD IT FOR A LONG TIME, THEY ARE A LOT TALLER THAN THE TETE-A-TETE BUT THEY DON’T BLOOM SO EASILY

THIS IS AUBRIETA, I THINK IT IS A VERY CUTE LITTLE FLOWER, IT BLOOMS FOR A LONG TIME AND IT IS WINTERGREEN, THAT IS ALWAYS A PLUS 

I HAVE LITTLE VIOLETS EVERYWHERE IN THE GARDEN, AS I HAVE MANY DIFFERENT COLOURS THEIR OFFSPRING IS ALWAYS A SURPRISE

SKIMMIA KEW GREEN IS LATE THIS YEAR, THE BUDS WERE THERE ALL WINTER LONG, I CUT SOME BRANCHES OFF AND PUT THEM IN VASES IN MY LIVINGROOM HOPING THE BUDS WILL BE OPEN IN A FEW DAYS FOR EASTER…….

AND MY AMELANCHIER, NOT YET IN BLOOM BUT ALMOST, USUALLY IT IS IN BLOOM BY THE END OF MARCH BUT NOT THIS YEAR

It’s not much but it’s a start and when the sun is shining it is Spring !

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN MY GARDEN AT THE MOMENT

Winter was long, freezing and wet. We didn’t get Spring, we went from Winter into Summer so plants are way behind their normal blooming time. Normally June is the most beautiful time in my garden with lots of blooms but today my garden still looks pretty green.

I walked through my garden this morning and made some pictures for you.

BLOOMS OF CLIMBING HYDRANGEA OR SHOULD I SAY THE BEGINNING OF THE BLOOMS ?

ONE OF MY FUCHSIA’S, AREN’T THEY CUTE WITH THEIR BALLERINA FROCKS ?!!!

AND ANOTHER FUCHSIA, THIS ONE LIKES TO HAVE HIS FACE IN  THE SUN

DIGITALIS, THE FIRST FLOWERSTALK IN MY GARDEN WHO IS BLOOMING, THEY HAVE SELFSEEDED ALL OVER THE GARDEN BUT I  LET THEM BE AS LONG AS THEY ARE NOT IN THE WAY, THE BEE’S LOVE THEM AND THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL !!!

SPRING IS IN THE AIR

At last we have temperatures above  0 C°, even at night ! It is still cold and very wet but it is a dry day so I started working in the garden, I don’t know where to begin as the garden is a real mess at the moment.

The builders made us a new terrace in the garden and new garden path’s but what a mess !!!

I don’t clean up my garden in Autumn either cos it is better for the plants and the birds and other small wildlife that is living in my garden, like frogs and hedgehogs, insects…. But now I am ready to start !!!!

HERE’S A PICTURE OF MY LITTLE VIOLETS WHO DESPITE THE HORRIBLE WINTER WE’VE HAD ARE BLOOMING AGAIN, IN MY EYES IT’S A MIRACLE !

NARCISSUS TETE A TETE, I CHEATED A BIT, I BOUGHT THESE IN THE SHOP WHERE THEY WERE ALREADY IN BLOOM

THIS IS HOW FAR MY NARCISSUS ARE, IN BUD

MY SNOWDROPS ARE THE ONLY FLOWERS IN BLOOM AT THE MOMENT, WHEN I WAS WORKING IN THE GARDEN TODAY I SAW THEY HAVE SEEDED THEMSELVES HERE AND THERE, I LIKE THAT !

I also started to put my succulents in pots outside again, they spent Winter in my greenhouse and they look really well, last year they were almost death cos of all the cold and wet we had, they can stand the cold but not the wet.

MY HEART BLEEDS

It started snowing again about an hour ago, it is freezing so the snow doesn’t melt, later today they have predicted ice rain and people are told to stay in as road conditions will be extremely dangerous. Luckily it is Sunday so not many people have to go to work. Nature looks lovely ofcourse with a pure white blanket but….no matter how beautiful it looks, it is dangerous and expensive as we all try to stay warm and these days that is really expensive ! But my main concern are my plants and shrubs, when they are bare it is  no problem but the one’s who have leafs look so sad that my heart bleeds when I see them.  But plants are so terribly brave and strong ! Once the freezing temperatures are gone they look like normal again. I’ve taken some pictures of plants who look sad to show you what I mean.

AND THIS IS AN AUCUBA JAPONICA, IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS VERY THIRSTY

I’ll show you new pictures when the big freeze is gone, they expect it will last for at least another forthnight ! How I wish I was a bear and go in hibernation untill Spring !!!
